The post punk/garage/hardcore/swamp blues/metal trio has been kickin' around town for a while now, and are finally releasing their yet to be named debut album. You may be one of the lucky few who picked up their concrete cased CDR at their live shows but the band's first official release will be a 7" single for "Rip My Heart Out" b/w the Johnny Kidd and the Pirates cover "Please Don't Touch" out in July 2009. The Hour's Brendan Murphy best captures the band's winning formula as "...songs that make you want to pound beer, have seizures and stab people". How could we not sign that??? Punk Rock is too small a phrase to contain Starvin Hungry's second album. The band have consumed influences from every era of rock 'n' roll and cooked up something that recalls the highly individualized think punk of early pioneers like the Voidoids, Wire, and The Wipers, as well as the ferocious sexual splatter of the Stooges and Pussy Galore. "Cold Burns" brings something new to the table through the use of alternately tuned guitars and unusual chord changes served on a warm plate of classick hooks.
